CBD Oil Or Hemp Oil Do You Know The Difference

CBD Oil Or Hemp Oil Do You Know The Difference

What is the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil? This is something you should know before buying. Whereas hemp seed oil is derived exclusively from cannabis, CBD oil can be extracted from either hemp or marijuana. Depending on the legalities in your state, knowing what you are getting definitely matters.

Both hemp and marijuana are considered cannabis. However, there are three types of cannabis, sativa, indica, and ruduralis. The latter (ruduralis) is considered a sub-species by some botanists, and tends to have a much higher THC content, depending on the strain. Industrial hemp won’t get you high, hence its legalization. Marijuana, of course, will.

Now that industrial hemp has been legalized, we will see more and more hemp products on the market. As CBD products are soaring as well, many providers will use industrial hemp-derived CBD exclusively in an effort to sell to the masses. For those individuals weary of breaking the law, CBD extracted from industrial hemp is the safer way to go, unless you live in a state where both marijuana and CBD are legal.

CBD oil

In contrast, CBD oil is extracted from the whole hemp plant, including but not limited to, the stalks and flowers. Its oil comes in three distinct forms: nano, isolate or full spectrum.

We are now seeing our skincare market flooded with CBD options. There is a reason for that. Research has shown that it is a powerful anti-inflammatory that helps a host of skin issues: acne, eczema, and even psoriasis. Additionally, CBD has a trove of antioxidants. These benefits combined can help with troubling skin issues.

Hemp seed oil

Hemp seed oil has been sold at health food stores for decades. Historically, it has been used for both cooking and skincare. Consumers rave about its ability to deeply moisturize without clogging pores. Regarding cooking, it has a nutty flavor and is considered healthy as it is loaded with vitamins.

Hemp oil, as it is commonly referred to, is extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant. It’s a clear green oil that is harvested by cold pressing hemp seeds. Furthermore, hemp seed oil does not contain any CBD or THC (the compound that induces a high).

Hemp seed oil versus CBD for skincare

The irony here is that people have used hemp seed oil for the same reasons for decades. However, we seem to have more studies done on CBD. Because the CBD market is taking off, people are more apt to buy products marked “CBD” instead of “hemp.”

In all fairness, they are two different products with varying benefits and chemical makeup. Producers know this and yet, are not always honest about their products. That’s why it is up to us to be consumer savvy.

Third-party testing

To ensure you are buying what the label states, find a provider that utilizes third-party testing. The companies that have done so, want to provide the public with a quality product. However, they are in the minority.

FDA regulation

Our biggest issue to date is that both hemp seed oil and CBD are unregulated. Consequently, companies are “naming” their products CBD, even if it is plain hemp seed oil, and contains no CBD at all. Why? People are willing to pay more for CBD because the benefits are vast in comparison to hemp seed oil.

If you have someone trying CBD because they have seizures, it does a great disservice to have them taking hemp seed oil instead, even if it causes them no harm. If they fail to garner any success with the product, then someone else who could be helped may not try it. Everyone deserves to receive the benefits of CBD and it can be challenging to know exactly what you are getting.

Fortunately, the FDA recently intervened and held a hearing. Currently, they have a panel researching the product and discerning what regulations need to be put in place to ensure that the public is protected. Ultimately, we want everyone to get what they are paying for.

My Final Thoughts:

After decades of research, we now understand that both THC and CBD have profound medical benefits for the human body. This is why medical use of marijuana is rapidly becoming legal in the United States. Currently, there are over 30 states that have legalized the medical use of marijuana.

Whereas marijuana is used recreational and medicinally, industrial hemp has over 25,000 known uses.  From clothing and shoes to wood products and paper, hemp fiber is the strongest of any other plant. Moreover, CBD oil extracted from hemp is gaining in notoriety. From supplements to skincare, CBD oil has a long list of benefits as well. Thus, hemp and marijuana should never be considered the same plant. The uses and genetic makeup of each are incredibly different. Now that you know, you can educate others. There is no reason for anyone to fear using CBD infused products or producing hemp crops. This incredible herb can go a long way in meeting the needs of 21st century America.

  1. Excellent article you have written up here juxtaposing the differences between cbd oil and hemp oil. It is true that cbd oil is an extract from hemp oil and as such, it could be in forms. I only make use of cbd oil for my anxiety and to calm my nerves. But seeing so much information about hemp oil too and usage is great too. I have been able to clarify my misconceptions about cbd and hemp oil. Thanks

  2. Wow, I have been using the cbd oil in the past but didn’t know so much information about it like this. I used to think it was the same with the hemp oil. I must’ve been taking some amount of cannabis no matter how small. At least if I take a test on drugs I’m sure I wouldn’t be positive will I? It’s true that they are getting legalised due to its good use, the healthy use of the oil.

    1. Anytime the amount and mg is less than .03 of thc it is too sto show up in a drug test. The benefits of cbd in any amount evn small dosages are good for your overall health,

  3. Ah, this is not bad at all I must say. Not so many people know the difference between help and cbd. Or thc and cbd and you have called them here. It’s good that you can define them both separately and tell us that cbd can be extracted from hemp too. They do have different uses and I think hemp oil is a good one that I should get seeing it has come a long way.

    1. When you are getting into using cbd oil and cbd related products it is so important to get educated first. Cbd has already been shown in research and studies to be very effective in helping with a range of health related issues. Not only that hemp itself is used for such a variety of products. We really need to be educated when it comes to the whole industry.

  4. Wow! This is incredible post-Precisely have written this article has impressed me and I now understand exactly the difference between CBD and,  Hemp Oil. Although these products are not legalized in some countries, however its worthy to know the benefits and get more information.I didn’t even know that both hemp and marijuana are considered cannabis until now.But thanks to your post, in addition I am getting better idea over these incredible Oils, I can even explain about that to everyone who has any question about.
You have point out about products that are labeled CBD on it even though it may not contains CBD in the product , This would be difficult to make distinguish between those products and ensuring what we are buying. This a little bit problem for people like me to determine which ones actually is 100% pure and safe product.I hope that with the intervention of the FDA, people will get a safe product. Overall this CBD Oil seems has huge benefits for human being and there would be a big opportunity for marketers to work on it and provide to customers quality Oils. Thanks

    1. There is some confusion when it comes to just what cbd and hemp is or isnt,so I hope articles like this will help educate. A lot of research is just now starting on the many benefits of cbd. As far as wether and when the FDA gets involved I hope when they do they will do a better job than when they got involved with the pharmaceutical companies.
